Most Profitable Shopping Trip To Goodwill Ever!!

Once a month I venture out on an hour-long trip to my favorite Goodwill store. There used to be one closer to me (15 minutes) but they closed down during the pandemic and never re-opened. I always go to Goodwill with a shopping list. This month I'm looking for summer pajamas, a butter dish and some cooking pans and pots (non-toxic) for our RV. Of course, along the way, if I can garner any Corelle, Corning or Pyrex cookware, I'm all for the score. This month I did exceptionally well. In my opinion.

As soon as I got to the housewares department, I noticed this pour-over glass drip coffee maker. My in-laws used to have one and they always raved about the exceptional taste of their morning coffee. I never bought my own because they were very expensive. So, you can imagine my delight when I saw a Chemex coffee maker just sitting on the top shelf. I immediately grabbed it. I noted the Goodwill price of $3.99 and snatched it up. Here's a photo of the glass pot, taken on top of my stove, and the price tag.

Can you imagine my delight when I looked up the value price of the Chemex pour-over coffee pot on Amazon. The price tag covered the mfg name, but there it was, once I removed it: CHEMEX!!!

If I were to buy this coffee maker today, it would cost $116.38 plus tax. Click here.

Next up, I need summer pajamas (as I may be flying down to Florida soon to see my sister). I priced PJ's at Kohl's and Amazon and found them to be a bit expensive at $20 to $30 each. I have summer pajamas already but it's going to be an all-ladies weekend when I visit my sister and I want to look presentable. Not snobby. LOL! Also, I like to wear 100% cotton, which is getting to be harder and harder to get. Most of the PJ's for sale at Kohl's or Amazon were made with polyester.

When I got to Goodwill today, anything with a purple price tag was 50% off. So, I scoured the woman's sleepwear section and found a few pairs with purple price tags. I lucked out on two pairs of summer PJ's, 100% cotton with purple tags. They were originally priced at Goodwill for $7.99 but I got them 50% off and paid only $4 each for them. Another good score.

I really got these fantastic, comfy, cotton PJ's for only $4 each!

Lastly, I found a brand new broiler roasting pan for only $4.99. For anyone who's had a broiler pan that came with their oven, after a few years, they look horrible. Mine was in really bad shape and needed to be replaced ASAP. A brand new one cost $29.93 at Amazon, click here. I got mine at Goodwill for only $4.99.

I also scored two more pieces in my ongoing Made In America quests for all things Corelle, Pyrex and Corning. I scored a Pyrex square glass baking dish for only $3.99. Retail at Amazon for $14.99 (click here. But remember, my Goodwill find is vintage!). I also scored a Corning oblong, white baking dish for only $5.99. Amazon sells the vintage model for $32.89. Click here.

Still haven't found any good non-toxic cookware for our RV. The set I have has teflon and I'm not feeling safe with that chemical anymore. I'm looking for either cast iron or stainless steel. I haven't had any luck with these compounds so I may have to start scouring sales and shop for a new set before the summer begins. I did find a butter dish today but it was a bit too large to fit in my butter section in my fridge. I'll keep looking. See you next month!

No Peaches For You! The Peach Nazi Has Spoken.

Boo hoo. All this rain we have been having over the last month or so has completely destroyed my one and only peach tree! Many of the peach...
